Academy screens 45 shorts for oscar consideration

Last weekend, the Academy screened the 45 projects that were submitted for Best Animated Shorts consideration. Members of the Shorts and Animation branch of the Academy will vote for the 10 titles to be included on the short list and we will finally learn about the final five nominees with the rest of the contenders on Jan. 24.

Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In “Brave,” a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts. Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Wise Woman (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. TINTINO NUOTYKIAI.VIENARAGIO PASLAPTIS (recenzija)

Į kino teatrų sales pagaliau atžygiavo naujas herojus TINTINAS ir gerą produktą užtikrinantys du režisieriai - Stevenas Spielbergas ir Peteris Jacksonas. Mums Europiečiams Tintinas yra puikiai pažįstamas personažas, tad filmo premjerą matome net dviem mėnesiais anksčiau nei žiūrovai už Atlanto. Paprastai būna atvirkščiai. Didesni komiksų gerbėjai tikriausiai pastebėjo, kad porą Tintino komiksų knygelių buvo išversta ir į Lietuvių kalbą.

Šiuo metu tai pelningiausias filmas Europoje. Prancūzijoje, pagal žiūrovų skaičių per premjerą, šis filmas lenkia net „Avatarą“. Nieko nuostabaus! Tintinas - vienas populiariausių komiksų šioje šalyje.

Naujas herojus, nauji ir nematyti nuotykiai. Pagaliau kažkas naujo ir netikėto, nes pastaruoju metu kino teatrų ekranuose sumažėjo originalių filmų, daugiausiai tęsiniai, kurie nenuteikia naujiems nuotykiams, o tik primena, kad neužmirštume jau esamų herojų ir papildytume kūrėjų neišsemiamas kišenes. Drąsiai sakau, kad tai vienas originaliausių metų animacinių filmų. Tokių šiais metais buvo tik keli: „Rango“ ir „RIO“. Visą kita mums jau ir taip pažįstama: „Kung fu panda 2“, „Ratai 2“, „Mikė Pūkuotukas“, greit pasirodys „Linksmosios pėdutės 2“, mums jau pažįstamas katinas iš „Šreko“ filme „Batuotas katinas“ ir ketvirtoji „Alvinas ir burundukai“ dalis.

Tintinas (akt. Jamie Bell) turguj aptinka ir nusiperka seną ir neįprastą laivo modelį „Vienaragis“. Tik nusipirkus laivą, Tintiną pradeda persekioti paslaptingi žmonės/grupuotė, kuri glaudžiai susijusi su įsigytu laivo modeliu. Netikėtai šuo Sniegelis sulaužo parneštą namo laivą. Galiausiai išvis laivas dingsta, o namai suverčiami neatpažįstamai. Tintinas imasi aiškintis ši painų reikalą. Netikėtai suverstuose namuose jis atranda popieriaus pergamentą, kuris per atsitiktinumą buvo iškritęs iš laivo modelio.

Greitai besirutuliojant įvykių eigai, Tintinas (ne savo valia) atsiduria paslaptingame laive, o ten susipažįsta su Kapitonu Hedoku (akt. Andy Serkis), kuris dar labiau susijęs su visa šia istorija ir paslaptingosios pergamento mįslės įminimu. Laivas tampa labai pavojinga vieta šiems dviems herojams, tad jiems tenka bėgti nuo paslaptingųjų priešų, kurie visomis įmanomomis priemonėmis bando atskleisti paslaptį susijusią su rastu laivo modeliu „Vienaragiu“ ir keistaisiais pergamento lapais, kurie veda prie paslaptingojo piratų lobio vietos. Nuotykiai nusitęsia per dykumas ir vandenynus, o kokybiškas 3D atlikimas nukelia mus į ranka paliečiamai tikroviškas užburiančias vietas. Veiksmo bus daugiau nei įsivaizduojate.

Be pagrindinių pirmojo plano veikėjų, šauniai visoje šioje istorijoje pateiktas ir dviejų detektyvų duetas, kurie į filmą įneša chaoso ir absurdiškumo. Spielbergas žino, kaip neleisti žiūrovui nuobodžiauti, tad šie du detektyvai drąsiai gali lygiuotis šalia „Ledynmečio“ esantį antrojo plano žiūrovų pamėgto personažo – voverės Skrato. Nepamirštama filmo vieta, kai šie du detektyvai užeina į piniginių kleptomano namus, kad šiam gražintų rastą piniginę.

Talentingasis Stevenas Spielbergas su Georgu Lucasu kadaise mums pristatė nuostabią Indianos Džounso epopėją, kuri jau tapo auksine klasika. Šį kartą Spielbergas į pagalbą pasitelkė šių dienų gero kino garantą ir legendinio „Žiedų valdovo“ režisierių - Peterį Jacksoną, kad pristatytų naują nuotykį ir ne ką prastesnį ir paslaptingesnį, nei „Indiana Džounsas“. „Tintine“ išnaudojamos visos įmanomos naujausios technologijos, kurios blizga visu gražumu ir verčia stebėtis, kiek daug darbo buvo įdėta į šį nuotykį. Žiūrint filmą, rodosi, kad animacija pralenkia visas įmanomas piešimo ar skaitmeninio modeliavimo ribas ir imi jaustis lyg žiūrėtum filmą su realiai filmuotais veikėjais. Tokiam aukštam rezultatui išspausti buvo daug skolintasi iš „Avataro“ kūrėjų, kurie prieš porą metų padarė stebuklą akims. Spielbergui toks filmas yra nauja patirtis, bet su ja jis susidorojo profesionaliai ir išspaudė maksimumą.

Produktyvusis režisierius per Kalėdas pristatys ir dar vieną savo filmą - „Karo žirgas“, tad nusimato neblogas apdovanojimų sezonas šiam didžiam Holivudo grandui.

Stevenas Spielbergas apie šio filmo kūrimą mąstė dar tada, kai kūrė savo legendinį Indianą Džounsą. Tais laikais net su komiksų autorium buvo susitikęs aptarti filmo idėjos. Bet netikėtai komiksų kūrėjas Herge iškeliavo anapilin, o S. Spielbergas projektą nukėlė vėlesniam laikui. Po daugelio metų kai pamatė, ką P. Jacksonas padarė su „Žiedų valdovu“, kokybės prasme, paskambino jam ir susitarė susitikti ir pašnekėti apie galimą komikso ekranizaciją. S. Spielbergas net nenumanė, jog P. Jacksonas yra didelis Tintino komiksų serijos entuziastas ir vos ne mintinai žinantis visus šio komikso herojaus nuotykius. Dar P. Jacksonui priklauso geriausia pasaulyje specialiųjų efektų studija „Wetta“, kurios dėka ir buvo sukurtas „Tintinas“ 3D formatu, nei kiek nenusileisdamas savo kokybe geriausiam šios srities produktui - “Avatarui“, kuriam taip pat efektus būtent ir darė genijai iš „Weta“ studijos, įsikūrusios Naujojoje Zelandijoje.

Labai keista, kad šį filmą mūsų kino teatrai pateikia tik lietuvių kalba. Gaila, nes norėtųsi pamatyti ir originalą. Dubliavimas atliktas kokybiškai, bet ne taip, jog antrą kartą šį filmą žiūrėčiau mūsų gimtąja kalba. Ir filmas skirtas ne patiems mažiausiems, o kiek vyresniems, kurie tikrai moka skaityti ir gali laisvai suprasti, apie ką šnekama originalo kalba.

Jau kuriant pirmąją „Tintino“ dalį buvo aišku, kad pasisekus šiam, antrąjį režisuos Peteris Jacksonas, o prodiusiuos S. Spielbergas. Kino grandai tiesiog susikeis vietomis, nes šį kartą vairas patikėtas S. Spielbergui, o prodiusiuoja P. Jacksonas. Nežinau, kaip už Atlanto seksis šiam nuotykiui, kurio premjera, kaip minėjau, ten dar negreitai, bet Europoje filmui sekasi puikiai.

Filmą rekomenduočiau žiūrėti animacijos, nuotykių ir gero veiksmo kino mėgėjams. Išsiilgusiems tokių nuotykių, kokius matydavome žiūrėdami senuosius Steveno Spielbergo filmus. Ir žinoma visiems Herge komikso „Tintinas“ gerbėjams. Bei išties nepriekaištingo 3D kino mylėtojams. Čia tikrai tą 3D pajausite.

ROSA

ROSA is an epic sci-fi short film that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where all natural life has disappeared. From the destruction awakes Rosa, a cyborg deployed from the Kernel project, mankind’s last attempt to restore the earth’s ecosystem. Rosa will soon learn that she is not the only entity that has awakened and must fight for her survival.

The short-film was created entirely by young comic-artist Jesús Orellana with no budget during a single year. Since it's world premiere at the Seattle International Film Festival, ROSA has been an official selection at film festivals around the world such as Screamfest, Toronto After Dark, Anima Mundi or Los Angeles Shorts Film Festival. In October ROSA was screened at the opening night of the Sitges International Film Festival, considered the world's best festival specialized in genre films. Following the succesful festival run, the short film has attracted the attention of the major talent-agencies and Hollywood producers. Currently ROSA is in development to be a live-action motion picture.

THE METH PROJECT is a large-scale US prevention program aimed at reducing first-time Methamphetamine use, particularly among teenagers.

Four Studio AKA Directors all took on the creation of Six films for the project by concentrating on personal stories by users. Uncompromising & uncomfortable to watch, each of the films has its own style, reflecting the personal recollections of addicts. In addition to these thought-provoking films, there are a series of stand alone Illustrations to accompany other stories of addiction & Radio audios that will be viewable on the Meth Project website: methproject.com/​

18 Animated Feature Films Submit for 84th Annual Academy Awards

Paskelbti 18 pilno metražo animacinių filmų, kurie kitais metais varžysis dėl garbingiausio apdovanojimo - Oskaro statulėlės.

Mano nuomone, iš čia išvardintų, yra tik keli kadidatai tikrai verti nugalėti ar bent jau būti tarp 5 nominuotųjų, kurie bus paskelbti vasario 24 dieną. Tai būtų: "The Adventures of Tintin", "Kung Fu Panda 2" ir neabejotinas favoritas "Rango".

Dar daug šansų turi "Puss in Boots" ir "Arthur Christmas", bet jų dar nemačiau, tad negaliu ir šnekėti.

Mažiausiai šansų turi šie filmai: "Gnomeo & Juliet", "The Smurfs", "Mars Needs Moms", "Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil".

Dėl vieno filmo tik nežinau! Kaip bus su naujausiu Pixar studijos darbu "Cars 2", nes tai blogiausiai vertinamas šios studijos darbas, bet techniškai jis nepriekaištingai atliktas... Kelis metus iš eilės laimėję oskaro statulėlės, manau šiais metais jie gali ramiai nieko nelaukti ir ruoštis kitiems metais jų išleidžiamam filmui "Brave":)

Oskarai bus teikiami 2012m. vasario 26 dieną.

VRHF - Plunge

Graduation animated short film. Nominated for the Academic Achievement Award at ArtEZ Zwolle.

The film is a semi-autobiographical tale showing among others modern madness, attention disorder, overindulgence, fear of death, being alone without loneliness. It has a loose narrative, almost sequential, encouraging the viewer to construct their own theories, while retaining a unity in theme and atmosphere.
